Photos: Libyan plane hijacked by 2 pro-Gaddafi's suppoters, lands in Malta with 118 people on board

An airliner on an international flight in Libya was on Friday hijacked by two men who called themselves, "pro-Gaddafi."

At first their mission was  unclear, until they later opened up that, all they  wanted is  the release of Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif al Islam, who was announced in July, that he had been freed from prison. The two pro-Gaddafi  supporters said that if their demand were not met, they will blow up the plane.

It was reported that the plane had on board a total number of 118 people including women and children. The hijackers  told troops,  who were   deployed to  the location,  where the plane had landed, that  they  are  willing to let all 111 passengers leave the Airbus A320, excluding its seven crew, if their  demand were met.

The plane had been flying from Sebha in southwest Libya to Tripoli for state-owned Afriqiyah Airways, a route that would usually take a little over two hours.

The troops deployed,  took cover at a hundred meters distance from the plane, and were only communicating with the prominent of Gaddafi through phone. The incident also affected all other flights  at Malta International Airport, as they have been cancelled or diverted.
